I was raised in New Orleans, La and moved to Atlanta in 1993. I graduated with a BFA in Art Education from Georgia State University in December 2002 with a concentration in ceramics. I have been an art educator for about 16 years, but I am new to DSES. I have had the honor of being named the 2006 Young Audiences/Woodruff Art Center Teacher of the Year, the 2006 City of East Point Teacher of the Year and the 2007 Conley Hills Teacher of the Year. I am lead writer on the FCS Art Department curriculum writing team and was lead writer for the GSE Art 2017 writing team for grades 3-5.
On a more personal note, I have three beautiful daughters who attend Atlanta Public Schools. I enjoy traveling, hiking, ceramics and salsa dancing. I took an awesome trip to Puerto Rico with my eldest daughter. We had the opportunity to explore the rain forest, rescue sea turtles at the beach and volunteer at the community garden! I am so happy to be here at DSES! I look forward to getting to know you this year and sharing the wonderful world of art with you and your children.
